Heritage Events 12.30pm – 5.30pm Chotah Victorian Tea Rooms – Kilcoole Women’s Group hosts a unique afternoon tea experience with home baked delights traditional costumes and ambiance.  Jackie O’Toole, chairperson of the Kilcoole Women’s Groups has spent nearly a year collecting china, making costumes and designing sets for this wonderful afternoon tea experience. Capture 1.00pm – 2.30pm Féile Cluichí Sráide :From 1.00 to 2.30 p.m. the grounds of the Holy Faith Convent and St. Brigid’s school will be thronged with children (of all ages) playing street games, run by KAPS – Kilcoole Area Play Space, with kind assistance from Kilcoole Youth Project.  A competition was recently launched in the village and is accompanied by a booklet Naoi Déag Sé Déag.  The final 7 teams will be judged during the event.  Capture A 2.00pm – 3.30pm The 1916 Rising Re-enactment  – Part One : Early in the week

Lord Edward’s Own Re-enactment Group join forces with renowned Bray theatre group Square One to bring to life what happened on the streets of Dublin during Easter week 1916.  From the calm before the storm at Liberty Hall, to all out warfare on Sackville Street and St. Stephen’s Green, and on to the Battle of Mount Street, the action is narrated by Gerry Gill.  Representing the ordinary people of Dublin and how the Rising affected them, we have Maggie Murphy as Tessie O’Brien and Kevin Macken as Roger Smith.  Local man Fiach Kunz will play The O’Rahilly and Joey Hunt is the Park-Keeper, Kilcoole Primary School Choir, Colaiste Chraobh Abhainn Secondary School – Reading of the Proclamation.
Kilcoole youth project remembers the youth of 1916 by playing music close to the era of 1916. This will include bodhran’s, tin whistle and singing.

In Part Two, the re-enactments take us through the later part of Easter Week, the escape from the GPO to Moore Street and the surrender led by Nurse O’Farrell played by Aideen McLoughlin.  Devised by Ros Keddy and written by Jennifer O’Hara.
